About Us
Wine has been bringing people together for thousands of years - across tables, cultures, and continents. Every bottle carries a story: of the land it came from, the hands that made it, and the moment it was opened.
At the Wicklow Wine Company, that's what drives everything we do. What follows is the story of how a small shop on the main street of Wicklow Town became home to over 800 wines you won't find anywhere else in Ireland - and the person behind it all.
Our Story
The Wicklow Wine Company has been on Main street, Wicklow Town since November 2000 - twenty-five plus years of sourcing, tasting, and sharing wines that most people in Ireland would never otherwise discover.
Today we carry over 800 wines imported directly from vineyards across France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Lebanon, and the New World. From everyday drinking wines to something special for an occasion, across still, sparkling, fortified, and dessert styles - in formats from half-bottles to magnums.
Our shop is also home to a carefully chosen selection of artisan foods - cheeses, fresh breads, and other things that happen to go well with what we sell.
Meet Michael
What started as one person's passion for finding interesting bottles at honest prices became a business, and then a way of life. Thirty years in the wine trade and a WSET Diploma later, the passion hasn't faded - it's just better informed.
We're a small, family-run business, and that's deliberate. Every wine on our shelves is there because we chose it, not because a distributor told us to stock it. When you ask a question, you get an honest answer from someone who's actually tasted what they're recommending.
Whether you're standing at our counter in Wicklow or browsing from your sofa, the experience is the same: tell us what you like, and we'll do the rest.
Life is too short to drink bad wine.
— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
