Bottle of Château Beychevelle

Red Wine

Château Beychevelle, 2001

€118.00

Elegant and stylish, this Saint-Julien Fourth Growth shows red and black currant, cedar, tobacco and woodsmoke on the nose. The palate is rich and full-textured with forward, juicy black fruit and chocolate notes leading to a smoky, earthy finish. At twenty-five years old, it's drinking beautifully with lovely complexity. The estate's name comes from baisse voile — lower the sails — a command given to passing boats on the Gironde by the Duc d'Épernon, the 17th-century Admiral of France who once called this grand château home.
