Domaine Arlaud, Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru MAGNUM ’02
This Clos origin is ancient. It had been the Saint Denis de Vergy Collegial property funded in 1023. (A collegial is a church run by a chanoine reunion).
The Clos Saint-Denis is made of lace. They carry with them an ambivalence they are complex and disconcertingly sweet tooth. Nose elegant and powerful, floral on opening, going to fresh red currants with peppery notes. The elevage a bit demonstrative and showy but high class nonetheless. The palate very concentrated with a superb structure. Slight astringency from the elevage, very very long. Another one of those wonders…
