The vines that give birth to this wine are found on the plateau of Pomerol and offer a view of the steeple of the town as shown on the label adorning the bottle. The terroir is the heart of the appellation, with clay-loam soils on a subsoil of blue clays and deep gravel . The vines that enter this vintage cover 4.6 hectares with 70% Merlot and 30% very old Cabernets Francs.
After carefully selected manual grape harvests, the winemaking takes place in low-temperature thermoregulated concrete vats for partial work . The aging lasts 18 months and takes place in oak barrels renewed by third each year, for a production of 20,000 bottles.
The Clos du Clocher offers a racy wine, original, with a strong character , violet, truffle and a good aptitude for the guard. If, as often in Bordeaux, the 2009 is a bit higher than the others, all the recent vintages deserve your attention.
This bottle is Magnum (1500ml) size!
