Chateau Milhau-Lacugue, Les Truffieres
€23.50
From the highest vineyards, at 205 metres, near some truffle oaks. On very stony clay and limestone soil. 77% Syrah to 23% Grenache. Élevage in vat. Rounded ripe spice. Youthful fruit; black fruit and spice on the palate and a hint of liquorice, with good depth. Dark ruby colour, violet hues and reflections on the black cherry, a beautiful youth with great viscosity and multiple tears. The nose is expressive, with aromas of cooked fruit and stewed fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry) with stone fruit (prune) and macerated fruit against a backdrop of spices and garrigue. At aeration we have mineral touches (zany and graphite) and a whole smoked, toasted and chocolate register. Very nice mouth, both identity and racy. The attack is full-bodied, full of voluptuousness with a juicy and sun-drenched fruity expression. The evolution is more fleshy or virile, the opulent material incorporates tannins present but fine. The whole is of quality: the sweetness and the sweetness of the perfumes are well coated, balanced even if the end of mouth must still melt since the tannins and the wood are still rather marked. End of mouth on the breeding.
