The eponymous Bodegas Mauro ‘Mauro’ 2016 is mostly Tempranillo (or Tinto Fino) with some Syrah from 80 hectares of different vineyards from Castilla y León. Winery Bodegas Mauro.
Founded in 1980 by Mariano García in memory of his father, Bodegas Mauro has been committed to excellence from the very beginning. Balanced and elegant wines meant for aging which assert the identity of each terroir and the attributes of the different varieties.
Bodegas Mauro was the García family’s first winery in the Duero Valley. Followed by San Román Bodegas y Viñedos in 1997, under the Designation of Origin Toro, and completed with Garmón Continental, an exclusive Ribera del Duero project that began in 2014.
Three different approaches to Duero Valley viticulture based on respect for each territory’s unique characteristics to create a very personal winemaking philosophy.
The Bodegas Mauro vineyards are spread across 90 hectares with an average vine age of 35 years and yields of between 3,000 and 5,000 kilograms of grapes per hectare.
The grapes are grown on bush vines and planted on light, well filtered, and easy-to-work calcareous clay soils.
