The 2015 Chocolate Block is a blend of Syrah (73%); Cabernet Sauvignon (10%); Grenache Noir (12%); Cinsault (4%) and Viognier (1%).

The wine matures in 1st (all of the Cabernet Sauvignon), 2nd and 3rd filled French oak barrels for 16 months before it gets a light egg-white fining and filtration. From renowned South African winery Boekenhoutskloof, it has a sensual bouquet with intriguing nuances of raspberry, strawberry and hints of spice. The palate is medium-bodied, silky smooth with fine tannins. The 2014 is an exotic and vibrant vintage with an iron edge running alongside the inky core of prunes, mulberries, cloves and floral notes. Textured, composed and seamless in style, this is very well-balanced and focused with great freshness and verve and an elegant finish.

TASTING NOTES: Explosive nose with great depth of spiced fruit and violet-infused perfume. Striking freshness on a firmly structured palate with elegant and supple tannins. Spicy oak aromas covering a rounded mid-palate that reveals layers of fruit with intense purity. Classically styled with integrated tannins and balanced acidity to ensure a long, succulent and textured finish.
