The Domaine de l’Ancienne Mercerie is both a family and a regional story with grandfathers and grandmother. The paternal grandfather exploited 13 ha of Aramon, Cinsault, Terret blanc and Carignan, to make 1600 hl of Table Wine at the cooperative cellar of Autignac, a small village in Hérault located on the border between Plain and Piedmont.
The other grandfather also exploits 13 ha of Aramon, Cinsault, Carignan and Grenache noir, to make 1600 hl of Table Wine at the cooperative cellar of La Bruguière, a charming village in the Gard. And the grandmother, a talented seamstress, ran a dynamic haberdashery for 30 years, located in the house of Autignac.

Today, François Caumette, the grandson, and his wife, Nathalie Caumette, agronomists and oenologists, exploit 16 hectares of Syrah, Grenache noir, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Merlot produced in the AOP Faugères and Coteaux du Languedoc terroirs . They produced their first wines in 2000.

This cuvée without added sulphites from the Domaine de l’Ancienne Mercerie is fruity and fresh. A very good balance between finesse and power. Pleasant, fleshy nose with a bouquet of red and black berries.

The vinification takes place in a traditional way, with the use of indigenous yeasts , then the wine benefits from a 9-month aging in vats . Even if this vintage has a vocation of long guard, it is eaten young as a delicacy. Over time, it develops an equally interesting complexity. It is advisable to decant it several hours before serving it at 17 ° C.
